Van Hollen Statement on the Latest Republican Health Care Proposal

Van Hollen Statement on the Latest Republican Health Care Proposal

Washington, DC - Today U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement on the latest Republican health care proposal:

"We may have started this debate with Republicans refusing to say what their final health care legislation would be, but the result remains the same. Every proposal offered by our Republican colleagues - all of which were hammered out in secret - will result in millions of people losing their health care, skyrocketing prices, and dismantling our current health care system. We've seen it all at this point: dramatic cuts to Medicaid, special interest tax breaks, stripping protections from children and adults with pre-existing conditions, a tax on older Americans, and attacks on women's health care access. President Trump called it mean - but I'd call it immoral.

"Democrats have always been willing to work together to strengthen our health care system - but Republicans have refused. And we stand united against any proposal - now and in the future - that takes health care away from hardworking families."
