Van Hollen Statement on Maryland General Assembly Veto Override on the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement regarding the Maryland General Assembly’s override of the veto blocking the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future:

“There is nothing more important than investing in the success of our children. As our schools, students, and educators face the challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic – including a widening learning gap – the investments and reforms called for in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future could not come at a more critical time. We must immediately take action to address inequities in education across our state and to ensure every child in Maryland has access to a quality education. Today’s veto override will help secure that objective and build a better, brighter future for Maryland’s children. On the federal level, I will continue fighting to increase funding for our education system – including through my Keep our PACT Act, legislation to fully fund Title I and IDEA.”
