Van Hollen, Cardin, Hoyer Virtually Meet with Federal Employee Unions and Employee Groups

This afternoon, Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin joined Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (All D-Md.) to host a virtual discussion with Members of the National Capital Region and representatives from National Treasury Employees Union, American Federation of Government Employees, National Federation of Federal Employees, National Active and Retired Federal Employees, International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, National Association of Air Traffic Controllers, National Association of Letter Carriers, American Postal Workers Unions, and National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association. Joining Van Hollen, Cardin, and Hoyer was Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Representatives Bobby Scott (D-Va.), Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.), John Sarbanes (D-Md.), Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), Don Beyer (D-Va.), Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), David Trone (D-Md.), Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.), and Jennifer Wexton (D-Va.).

“Each day, federal employees serve millions of American families,” the lawmakers said. “Today’s discussion with representatives from federal employee unions and employee groups was critically important as we work to rebuild the federal civilian workforce, improve pay parity, and advance comprehensive postal reform. The National Capital Region Delegation will continue to work closely with the Biden Administration and key stakeholders to prioritize federal employee issues and ensure that our nation’s civil servants have the resources they need to effectively serve the American people.”
