Van Hollen, Cardin Announce $598,500 for Ocean City Municipal Airport

U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin (both D-Md.) haveannounced a $598,500 U.S. Department of Transportation grant for the Ocean City Municipal Airport (KOXB) to fund an environmental assessment to evaluate potential impacts related to proposed projects in the airport's five-year development plan.

"Regional and General Aviation airports serve as an important resource to communities in our state and are vital to maintaining a strong economy," said Senator Van Hollen. "I'm committed to making sure Maryland has the funding it needs to keep all of our airports - both large and small - safe and accessible to our residents."

"Ocean City Municipal Airport is a hub for regional economic activity, serving as a key link for the local community, businesses and tourism," said Senator Cardin. "I will continue working to ensure that this airport has the resources it needs to continue safe, secure and efficient operations."

Funding will be awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program. The program funds various types of airport infrastructure projects, including runways, taxiways, and airport signage, lighting, and markings, helping to create thousands of jobs.
