Van Hollen, Cardin Announce $3.1 Million Grant for BWI Airport
Today U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin(both D-Md.)announced a $3,100,297 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) Airport. This investment will fund the addition of six additional boarding bridges to allow for the efficient movement of passengers and baggage.
"BWI Airport is central to Maryland's thriving tourism and economy - and as that continues to expand, our transportation centers must do the same," said Senator Van Hollen, a member of the Appropriations and Budget Committees. "I will keep fighting to make sure all of the airports in our state have the resources they need to support the millions of people who travel in and out of Maryland every day."
"BWI Airport is the heart of Maryland's aviation system and this federal investment will help keep it growing. From keeping Marylanders connected to the country and the world to keeping trade and tourism booming, it's crucial to our state and regional economy," said Senator Cardin, Ranking Member on the Senate Environment and Public Works Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee. "My priority is to ensure that BWI - and all our state's infrastructure needs - have the resources and federal partnerships necessary to thrive."
