Grant: $72,000 Grant for Cambridge-Dorchester Regional Airport
About The Event
Today U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen (both D-Md.) announced $72,000 for airport improvements for the Cambridge-Dorchester Regional Airport from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to maintain airport operations and enhance safety. With these funds, the Cambridge-Dorchester Regional Airport will remove tree obstructions to meet FAA standards and improve safety.
“These funds are a federal investment in Dorchester County, and all the businesses and residents who depend on our regional airports for trade and transportation,” said Senator Cardin, Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee. “Ensuring our local airports are safe and able to meet demand is critical to keeping our economy moving. I’ll continue working hard to ensure all our regional airports have the resources they need.”
“Regional and general aviation airports serve as an important resource to communities in our state and are vital to maintaining a strong economy,” said Senator Van Hollen, a member of the Budget and Appropriations Committees. “I will continue working to make sure Maryland has the funding it needs to keep all of our airports – both large and small – safe and accessible to our residents.”
Funding will be awarded through the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program. The program funds various types of airport infrastructure projects, including runways, taxiways, and airport signage, which helps to create local jobs. Maryland has received over $30 million in AIP funding in Fiscal Year 2018 alone.
