INTERNSHIPS AND PAGE PROGRAM
Internship Program
Internships in Senator Chris Van Hollen's Capitol Hill, Rockville and Baltimore offices provide unique educational and professional development opportunities for students. On Capitol Hill, interns will have the opportunity to learn how federal legislation is created by gaining a rare perspective into the workings of Capitol Hill and the legislative branch. In Rockville and Baltimore, interns have the opportunity to see how legislation directly affects constituents. In addition to general office responsibilities, primary responsibilities of interns include:
Capitol Hill: attending hearings and briefings, researching and summarizing proposed legislation, drafting memos for staff and the Senator, etc.
Rockville/Baltimore: interacting with constituents, drafting correspondence to constituents and federal agencies, attending community events, meetings, and briefings, etc.
This position provides an opportunity to be part of a hard-working cohesive team, to make a difference in the lives of others, and to increase one’s understanding of the operations of government agencies and the U.S. Congress.
