Flag Requests

Our office can request that an American flag be flown over the United States Capitol on any day of the year. Accompanying a requested flag will be a certificate of authenticity from the Architect of the Capitol. The certificate includes the name of the person or organization for whom the flag was flown, the date and the occasion. You can request a flag online with a credit card or by filling out a form and mailing it, along with a check. Please note that flags are priced at cost and our office does not profit from this service. Questions regarding flag requests may be directed to Senator Van Hollen’s flag coordinator at flags@vanhollen.senate.gov

Note: Normal processing time for flags flown over the Capitol is 4-6 weeks. Flag requests should be placed in advance and must be between 15 and 45 days before the fly date.
