Black Lives Matter
June 04, 2020This week, the President took a page out of a dictator’s playbook. He authorized the use of tear gas and rubber bullets against peaceful protesters for a photo op in front of a house of worship that’s supposed to be a refuge for peace. It was a sickening and dangerous move that was immediately met with condemnation from the religious leaders at the church. Now, Americans need empathy for and unity behind the movement to uproot systemic racism. Being black in America cannot be a death sentence and a barrier to fairness. We have to tear down the barriers to real justice and equality. It’s obvious that President Trump will not provide that path forward so it’s up to all of us to turn this moment into real, sustained change.
